Vice President of Finance

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight to ensure the delivery of finance operational excellence; the development of relevant financial information, financial planning, and reporting
  • Directly impact the management and financial integrity of the firm through the effective stewarding of organizational resources, maintaining appropriate controls, and integrity of financial management in compliance with applicable legal, governmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, identifying opportunities to streamline processes
  • Guiding the firm in achieving strategic objectives; ensuring profitable operation of the business
  • Lead and collaborate with finance BPO provider and payroll operations
  • Review and oversee all financial and management reporting prepared by the accounting team, including quarterly Canadian and US GAAP financial statements and annual Canadian and US GAAP and IFRS full financial statements. Accounting requirements include hedging, subscription revenue contracts, revenue recognition, and projects accounting
  • Manage external auditors, the annual audit process, and external tax advisors
  • Oversee and manage the preparation of U.S., Canadian and other tax returns to ensure that returns are filed accurately and within the filing deadlines
  • Manage transfer pricing and work with external advisors to prepare transfer pricing documentation
  • Oversee and manage the annual budget process, quarterly re-forecasts, long-term financial modeling, and special financial modeling projects as required
  • Review and implement process improvements and systems automation
  • Support the sales team in pricing and preparing quotes and term sheets, and provide analysis of complex sales deals for senior management
  • Manage the budgeting and reporting processes for government financing programs, including SRED calculations
  • Manage and support the project costing and billing processes
  • Manage the insurance process
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 10 years’ professional experience including experience leading a team
  • Experience working in an international, multi-entity and multi-currency environment
  • Strong technical Canadian and US GAAP accounting knowledge
  • Experience with US and Canadian tax
  • A bias towards efficiency and process flow automation and the systems expertise to accomplish that
  • Ability to work both at a strategic level and at a hands-on preparation level
  • Proven ability to communicate to company leaders in a clear and concise manner
  • Exceptional written and spoken English communication skills, with a desire to communicate and work with various groups, both internal and external to the company
  • Strong skills in Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Superior attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple deadlines and priorities, and to adapt to a changing environment
